PROJECTS

Lakemen Field

Lakemen is a city-owned field and is listed as 1 of our 16 city parks. It is the home field for 14U baseball, 15U baseball, 16U Babe Ruth baseball, Lakemen, Legion, and High School baseball double headers. The Lakemen lights were put up 1976 with a 25-year life expectancy. Best to our knowledge the poles were put up with the lights in 1976 and they were already used electrical poles. The sod was put in the infield in 1979. There was a full infield renovation in 1993, which included: cutting all the lips, redoing the mound, and bringing in new dirt. The recommended lifespan of an infield is 25 years at the most.

With the age of the lights, the light poles, and the field, we would like to renovate Lakemen Field to upgrade the facility to safely use.  In addition to the lights, poles, and field, we will upgrade the sound system as well.

Swan Park Playground and Splash Pad

Exciting News!  We have received amazing support from the community and have been able to move on and break ground on this project. Construction is anticipated to be complete in late spring 2023. We look forward to bringing this amazing inclusive play area to the community.

River Ridge Trail

The River Ridge Trail is open all year!  Enjoy hiking and biking on the trail now and when the snow flies, enjoy cross country skiing and snowshoeing.  It’s a trail for all seasons!

South Park

South Park is one of our most developed parks that is located at the south end of Main Street.  With our two shelters (upper and lower) that can be rented throughout the summer this park is host to many community events.  On certain summer nights you could catch a movie in the park, music at the shelter or one of many large community events like Fall-0-Rama.  Our large public beach allows us to have one of the area’s premier triathlons held here and a great place to spend a hot summer day.  You can also access the lake by way of our boat launch or two fishing piers for some summer fun.

Swan Park

Swan Park is one of our premier community parks.  With its four baseball fields it is host to numerous programs and community events throughout the year.  Baseball, softball, kickball and tournaments with 40+ teams are held here during the summer.  This park has two open air shelters, concession stand, large playground, 4 fields, 5 batting cages and ample green space for all to use.  In the winter you can enjoy our one of a kind sledding hill and groomed trails that allow for hiking, snowshoeing and x-country skiing opportunities.
